Day 91

I’m feeling pretty good about myself today! Had a great race last night and am eating pretty well. It’s also the first Sunday in Advent, and expectation is in the air! It’s Christmas time! I’ve done a lot of shopping online, and plan to finish it online this week. I’d also like to get the tree up today. My house is such a mess. I have a lot of picking up and cleaning to do before the decorating begins.

AM

7:30 Woke up, took meds, got ready for church. Running late on Sunday… again.

8:30 Breakfast. 1 Quinoa granola bar, 1 protein drink.

10:30 Snack. 1 Quinoa granola bar (from the race… it was in my purse.)

PM

1:00 Lunch.

3:30 Snack.

6:30 Dinner.

8:30 Snack.

10:00 Bedtime. This is the goal.

Day 90

AM

8:00 Woke up, took meds, went back to bed. I’m seeing a trend here. Ugh.

9:45 Breakfast. 1/4c (uncooked) steel cut oats, 1/2c blueberries, 4 egg whites.

PM

1:00 Snack. 1c yogurt, 1/2c grapes.

3:00 Lunch. 2c jambalaya. Yes, again. I think this is it for the jambalaya! 2c salad.

5:15 Snack. 1 banana, 2 graham crackers, 1T raw almond butter.

6:00 Race check-in.

7:00 Race! 5k time. Unofficial time was 50:26! Woohoo! I’m quite proud of myself!

9:00 Dinner. 1 protein shake, 1 serving kettle corn, 1/2 beer. (post-race food!)

Day 89

Today was a lazy day.

AM

7:00 Woke up, took meds, stretched, went back to bed.

8:00 Breakfast. 5 egg whites, 1/4c (uncooked) grits, 1T butter. I was so excited to have grits and butter! Ridiculous!

10:30 Snack. 1c plain nonfat yogurt, 1 small banana.

PM

2:30 Lunch. 2c jambalaya (turkey sausage, chicken breast, shrimp, brown rice, onions, celery, garlic, tomatoes, hot stuff), 2c salad.

8:00 Dinner. 2c jambalaya, 1 yogurt, 1 s’more. I know. At least I didn’t eat 2 s’mores!

Happy Thanksgiving!

AM

7:30 Woke up, took meds, stretched.

8:00 Exercise. 3-mile run/walk in 56 minutes.

9:00 Watched Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

PM

1:00 Took family to my parents’ house for Thanksgiving dinner. It was lovely, I ate too much, all afternoon.

7:30 Snack. 1 Yoplait Light yogurt.

9:15 Woke up, took meds, stretched, got ready to take kids ice skating.

10:00 Breakfast. 1 banana.

2:00 Lunch. Chargrilled Chicken and Fruit Salad from Chick-fil-A.

8:00 Dinner. 4oz tuna, 3c lettuce, 2c zucchini, o&v.

Day 86

AM

6:30 Woke up. Stayed in bed until 7:00.

7:00 Got out of bed, took meds, drank some water, stretched, got ready for training and weigh-in.

8:00 Personal training and weigh-in. I’ve lost a total of 45.6 pounds!!! Wow! I think I’m figuring it out! I think my lifestyle change is really sticking, and I can see the 50-pound mark within sight. Maybe I can make it by December if I stick to my plan and do my cardio every day like a good little girl. Okay. Personal training today was mostly fun. My 1-mile time went back up to 16:50, but I’m so tired and sore from yesterday that it’s a miracle I did that well. The rest of the day was filled with kickboxing training. That was really fun. I’ve never donned boxing gloves before and it was a blast beating up on Maggie! I took my loaner foil for a little show & tell, and demonstrated some of the stuff I’ve been learning at fencing. Maybe she can come up with some new forms of torture to help me with that.

9:00 Breakfast. Protein shake by Maggie. I’m moving the rest of my breakfast to my next snack.

11:00 Snack. 1/4c (uncooked) steel cut oats, 10 almonds, 1/2 grapefruit.

PM

1:30 Lunch. 4oz tuna, 1/2c brown rice, 4c lettuce, a few grape tomatoes, o&v.

3:45 Snack. 2 stalks celery, 1 wedge Laughing Cow Light Swiss cheese.

6:00 Dinner. Tonight, I am playing for the Thanksgiving Service at the church where I serve as organist and accompanist. I will be joining other congregants in a Thanksgiving dinner before the service, so I am treating this as a trial run in self-control for Thursday. I can definitely eat turkey and salad. I might have a bite of all the other goodies and skip dessert. That’s my plan. I’ll add to this later tonight.

Failed my self-control test miserably. Even ate a piece of pecan pie. Boo.

Day 85

AM

6:00 Woke up, took meds, did some work on the computer.

7:15 Exercise. Run/walk 3.5 miles. I think I ran over 60% of this! I felt strong and powerful this morning!

8:30 Went to Staples to buy inkjet cartridges for papers I needed at 10:30a!

9:45 Breakfast. 1/4c (uncooked) steel cut oats, 2 scoops protein powder.

PM

12:30 Snack. 1 banana, 1 pear, 10 almonds. I went a little crazy but, hey, it was a really ripe pear in the fridge. Sue me.

6:00 Dinner. 5oz salmon, 3c mixed baby greens, o&v.

7:00 Exercise. Fencing. I worked up a serious sweat. Had a warm up drill with Matt, a lesson with Don, and target practice with another newbie.

10:30 Bed. Tired. Exhausted.

Day 84

6:00 Woke up, took meds, got reeady for church.

7:00 Breakfast. 1/4c (uncooked) steel cut oats, 4 egg whites.

11:30 Exercise. Ran/walked 2 miles. It was warm, so I stopped after my second lap. Really, it was miserable.

PM

12:30 Lunch. 1/2 barbecue pork sandwich, fried okra, 1 ear of corn. I know.

7:00 Dinner. 5oz tilapia, 4c mixed baby greens, 1c broccoli.

I got a personal shout-out in my fencing instructor’s blog. Check it out! She’s got it mostly right. I’ve only done a couple of 5ks at this point… no marathons! Yet!

11:30 Snack. 10 almonds, 1 apple.

2:00 Lunch. 6oz shrimp, 1/2 brown rice, 1c zucchini.

4:30 Snack. 10 almonds, 1/2 grapefruit.

7:00 Dinner. 5oz chicken breast, 4c lettuce, 4oz asparagus, 1T o&v.
